A few days ahead of their film’s release, the makers of 23 released their new single, titled ‘Laali Paata.’ The song is composed by Mark K Robin, while Rahman has penned the lyrics.

Laali Paata’ is a poignant number, capturing a mother’s melancholy as she is compelled to let go of a child dear to her. Mark K Robin’s sombre composition is driven by melody and a rousing strings section and is consciously minimalistic on the percussion level which adds to the song’s haunting sadness. Sindhuja Srinivasan, the playback singer, does great justice to the composition’s melancholy.

Directed by Raj Rachakonda, 23 features Teja and Tanmai as the protagonists while actors like Actors like Jhansi, Pawan Ramesh, Thagabothu Ramesh and Praneeth comprise the supporting cast. The official trailer of the film was unveiled a few days ago. The film promises to be a gripping social commentary on how societal inequalities often come in the way of law and order.

Raj Rachakonda, who has previously made acclaimed films like 8am Metro and Mallesham, is also the screenplay writer for the film, while Indus Martin is the dialogue writer.  In the technical team, Sunny Kurapati is the cinematographer and Anil Aalayam helms the editing.

Presented by Rana Daggubati under Spirit Media banner, 23 is slated for a theatrical release on May 16.
