Even as his latest Hari Hara Veera Mallu gears up for release on July 24, Pawan Kalyan is now busy wrapping up work on some of his other pending projects, including OG and Ustaad Bhagat Singh. The actor-politician wrapped up his OG shoot a few days ago, and had resumed shooting for Ustaad Bhagat Singh in June. The film also stars Sreeleela.
Now the makers of UBS have confirmed Raashii Khanna part of the lead cast. “Team Ustaad Bhagat Singh welcomes the angelic #RaashiiKhanna on board as 'Shloka.' She brings her grace and charm to the sets,” The announcement post read.
It’s been a while since Raashii, who began her career with Telugu cinema, worked in a Telugu film. Her last Telugu project was the 2022 film Thank You. Ustaad Bhagat Singh will also mark the first time Raashii Khanna and Pawan Kalyan will be seen together.
Pawan Kalyan will be seen playing the role of a police officer in the film. Ustaad Bhagat Singh is directed by Harish Shankar, marking his reunion with Pawan Kalyan after the 2012 blockbuster Gabbar Singh.
Produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar under the Mythri Movie Makers banner, Ustaad Bhagat Singh has been a long time in the making. The film went on the floors in April 2023, and the first teaser of the film was released exactly a year later. However, due to Pawan Kalyan’s political commitments, the film got delayed. Initially announced as a remake of the Tamil film Theri, the project underwent changes during a production pause caused by Kalyan’s political commitments. Director Harish Shankar later clarified that the final version is an original script inspired by the initial concept but rewritten substantially.
The technical crew includes music composer Devi Sri Prasad, cinematographer Ayananka Bose, editor Ujjwal Kulkarni, and production designer Anand Sai. The screenplay is provided by K Dasharath with additional writing by Chandra Mohan.
