Rashmika Mandanna, who was recently seen in the Dhanush starrer Kuberaa, will next be headlining the coming-of-age drama The Girlfriend. While the first glimpse of the film, released in December last year, received a positive response overall, there had been no further updates from the makers since, besides the release of their teaser song. On Saturday, the makers finally announced the release date for their film’s first official single.

Titled ‘Nadhive,’ the single will be unveiled on Wednesday, July 16. Hesham Abdul Wahab, most popular for his Hi Nanna soundtrack, is the music composer for The Girlfriend. Vishwakiran Nambi is the choreographer, and lyrics are by Rakendu Mouli.Besides its Telugu release, the song will also be released in Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam. It isn’t revealed yet who are the playback singers for ‘Nadhive,’ though. 

While Krishnan Vasant is the cinematographer for The Girlfriend, the ‘Nadhive’ song video has reportedly been picturised by Siddhartha Nuni, who is known for being the DOP of films like Captain Miller and G.O.A.T. 

The Girlfriend is written and directed by actor-filmmaker Rahul Ravindran, who has earlier made films like Chi La Sow and Manmudhudu 2. Rahul also plays a significant role in his film. Allu Aravind is on board as as the presenter, while Dheeraj Mogilineni and Vidya Koppineedi are the producers, bankrolling the film under Dheeraj Mogilineni Entertainment banner.

The film has Dheekshith Shetty as the male lead. Veteran actors like Rao Ramesh and Rohini are part of the supporting cast. On the technical front, Chota K Prasad is the editor and Ramakrishna-Monica are the production designer duo.

Rashmika’s upcoming films include Mysaa and Thama. While Mysaa promises to show Rashmika in a fierce, violent avatar, the latter will have the Pushpa 2 actor sharing screen with Ayushmann Khurana and Nawazuddin Siddiqui for the first time.
