Ram Pothineni and Bhagyashri Borse starred as the lead pair in Andhra King Taluka, which was released in theatres on November 27. Kannada actor Upendra played a key role as Superstar Surya in the film. Directed by P Mahesh Babu, the film was produced by leading production house Mythri Movie Makers.
The film is now all set for its OTT debut. Netflix officially announced on social media that Andhra King Taluka will start streaming from December 25 in five languages — Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi. Interestingly, despite receiving fairly positive reviews, the film failed to perform well at the box office. Ram Pothineni had pinned his hopes on the film for a strong commercial comeback, but it fell short of expectations.
In the film, Ram plays Sagar, a die-hard fan of Superstar Surya. When Surya needs Rs 3 crore to complete his 100th film and the producers are unable to arrange the amount, Sagar steps in and deposits the money into Surya’s account. Curious and surprised, Surya decides to find out more about Sagar and travels to a village in the Godavari region.
During his journey, Surya uncovers several unexpected truths about Sagar. Who Sagar is and the sacrifice he makes for his favourite star form the core of Andhra King Taluka. From the beginning, the makers promoted the film as a fan’s biopic.
“Ippati dhaaka star biopics ey chusam, ippudu it’s time for a fan biopic,” Netflix posted on social media while announcing the film’s streaming date.
