Sundeep Kishan is all set to explore a new genre with Karikaala, a socio-fantasy film announced by the makers some time ago. Produced by Mahidhar Reddy and Rajashekhar Annabhimoju under the Shining Pictures banner, the film has now received an interesting update. The makers have officially announced that Catherine Tresa Alexander will play the female lead opposite Sundeep Kishan.
Director Ugandhar Muni previously tasted success with Shambhala, a fantasy thriller that gave Aadi Saikumar a much-needed success after a long time. He has now teamed up with Sundeep Kishan for Karikaala, which is expected to be a significant project in the actor’s career.
The makers had earlier unveiled Sundeep Kishan’s first-look poster from the film, showcasing him in a warrior-like avatar. They also revealed that the story is inspired by the fairy tales featured in Chandamama magazine and promised to take audiences into a different world.
Sundeep Kishan has been working in both Telugu and Tamil cinema. His latest film was the Tamil project Sigma, directed by Jason Sanjay, who made his directorial debut with the film. Jason is the son of Tamil actor and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay. However, Sigma did not meet expectations, particularly in the Telugu market.
Karikaala is being planned as a multilingual pan-India project, with releases in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi.
With Catherine Tresa now on board, the makers are expected to share more details about the film in the coming days. Catherine was last seen in the successful Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, starring Chiranjeevi and directed by Anil Ravipudi. She played an assistant to Chiranjeevi’s character in the film.
Interestingly, Karikaala is planned as a two-part film. The first part is scheduled to release on July 2, 2027, while the second chapter is slated to hit theatres on October 28, 2027. Sricharan Pakala has been roped in as the music director.
