For the past two weeks, ever since the release of Karthik Subbaraj's latest directorial film, Dorothy, the film has been receiving praise from audiences and critics alike, with appreciation also pouring in from all quarters of the film industry. From Dhanush and Suriya to Mani Ratnam and Upendra, many have commended particular aspects of the film, headlined by Rishikanth and Sananth.
Despite the praise of many, fans of the film and the filmmaker have been expecting applause from one veteran actor. Karthik Subbaraj, who has time and again established being a die-hard fan of Rajinikanth, has finally received the validation of his favourite actor for his landmark 10th directorial, which has music by Ilaiyaraaja.
Sharing photos of his meeting with his Petta star, Karthik detailed the conversation the veteran had with the director and the two lead actors of Dorothy. "Thalaivaaaaa.... Fantastic..Beautiful... Mindblowing' !! Thalaivar Loveeedd #Dorothy and spoke in detail for an hour appreciating every aspect of the film.... Can't ask for more.... Will forever remember the conversation & him saying..... "Intha Karthik Subbaraja thaan thedittu irunthen... Hat's off" ... Am flying. Love you Thalaiva," he shared.
Further Sananth also shared, "Award confirm! Enna oru challenging ana role! Hats off! Sema Alaga iruntheenga! Petta la patha Anwar ah ithu?!"
Both Sananth and Rishikanth have shared the screen with Rajinikanth in Petta and Coolie, respectively. In Dorothy, they play friends, Subbu and Karthi, who have grown up with toxic masculinity, casteism, and violence around them. However, the friends' belief system and lives change as a compassionate Dorothy (Keerthy Suresh) challenges the societal prejudice surrounding them.
Dorothy marks Ilaiyaraaja's 1,540th film as a music director. The film is produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Guneet Monga Kapoor, and Achin Jain. Its technical team also includes cinematographer S Thirunavukkarasu, editor Ganesh Siva, and choreographer Sherif M.
