SS Rajamouli took to his X page to unveil the first teaser of Satyadev-starrer Rao Bahadur. The film is directed by Venkatesh Maha, who is known for indie greats like C/O Kancharapalem and Uma Maheswara Ugra Rupasya.
Rao Bahadur promises to be an inventive psychological thriller, with elements of mystery and dark humour. Staying true to their words, where the teaser was promised to be ‘not even a teaser,’ the makers give us many glimpses of its story universe, including the two timelines it unfolds against, without revealing the basic plot or how the two are connected. Satyadev plays an ageing and irrelevant aristocrat whose mysterious ways of living has suddenly piqued involvement from police officials who are now attempting to decode a few things about him and his ancestral palace where he lives, protected by his loyal servants and an indifferent son.
“Happy to see Satyadev evolving and portraying larger-than-life characters. My best wishes to him and Maha for Rao Bahadur. Can't wait to see what you guys are up to,” Rajamouli penned in his post. Rao Bahadur marks Maha’s second collaboration with Satyadev, After Uma Maheswara Ugra Rupasya.
The supporting cast includes Vikas Muppala, Deepa Thomas, Bala Parasar, Anand Bharathi, Pranay Vaka, Kunal Kaushik, and Master Kiran. Kartik Parmar handles the cinematography while Smaran Sai is the music director. Rohan Singh handles production design and Shilpa GNS is the costume designer.
Mahesh Babu is part of the project as a presenter, presenting it under his GMB Entertainments banner. Anurag Reddy and Sharath are producing the film under A+S Movies in association with SriChakraas Entertainments and Mahayana Motion Pictures. The Rao Bahadur makers are targeting a Summer 2026 release.
Satyadev was recently seen in Arabia Kadali, the Prime Video series, and Kingdom where he shared screen with Vijay Deverakonda.
