In the aftermath of the Pahalgam terrorist attack on Tuesday, upcoming actor Imanvi, who is the female lead of the upcoming Prabhas’ film with Hanu Raghavpudi, found herself as a target of trolling and online harassment, with claims being made about her family’s links to the Pakistani military. On Thursday, the actor posted an official statement, refuting any such claims.

Taking to her Instagram page, the actor offered her condolences to the victims of the attack. “My heart goes out to all those who lost their lives and their loved ones. Any loss of innocent life is tragic and weighs heavy on my heart. I strongly condemn the violent acts,” her post read.

Throwing further light on the targeted harassment she has been facing, Imanvi penned, “I also want to address rumours and lies that have been falsely spread about my identity and my family via fake news sources and online media in order to create division and spread hate. Firstly, nobody in my family has ever been or is currently associated with the Pakistani military in any way. This and multiple other falsehoods have been fabricated by online trolls for the sole purpose of spreading hate.” Imanvi went on to clarify in her statement that she is an Indian American and that her parents legally immigrated to the US before she was born.

The actor also called out news publications for irresponsibly running news articles about the issue without efficient verification.

The Prabhas-Hanu Raghavpudi film is reportedly titled Fauji. The project was officially launched in August last year.
