On the occasion of Shivaratri, the makers of Kalki 2898 AD, formerly known as Project K, have unveiled the protagonist’s name. Prabhas plays Bhairava, an inhabitant of post-apocalyptic Kasi, in the film. The first look features Prabhas in a ponytail and futuristic garb. There is also a tattoo on his hand. Kalki 2898 AD is a sci-fi, mythological magnum opus spanning millennia, from the events of the Mahabharata dating around 3101 BCE to 2898 AD.

Kalki 2898 AD is written and directed by Nag Ashwin. The film is produced by Aswini Dutt, Swapna Dutt, and Priyanka Dutt under the Vyjayanthi Movies banner. It boasts a star-studded cast, including Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani. The cast and crew of the film are currently in Italy, shooting a song featuring Prabhas and Disha Patani.

Santhosh Narayanan is the music composer of the film, with cinematography by Djordje Stoljiljkovic, editing by Kotagiri Venkateshwara Rao, and production design by Nitin Zihani Choudhary. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on May 9.
