With the release of Jailer 2 now just weeks away, the film's promotions are moving into a distinctly musical phase. Rather than spacing out the soundtrack updates, the team appears to be lining up several announcements within days, putting Anirudh Ravichander's music at the centre of the final stretch.
The strategy is particularly interesting given the first Jailer, whose music became an important part of the film's pop-culture recall. Anirudh returns for the sequel, with Rajinikanth once again playing Muthuvel Pandian and Nelson Dilipkumar directing. The sequel has already introduced ‘Ala Bolelo’ as its first single, while the upcoming ‘One Name’ had also been heard in the film's promotional material.
The makers have now announced that the lyric video of ‘One Name’ will be released on September 29, with the promotional material urging fans to get “Rajinified”. The high-energy track has been composed, arranged and programmed by Anirudh, with lyrics by Heisenberg. A promo for the song was released on September 28, featuring animated visuals of Rajinikanth and glimpses of Anirudh performing the track.
The song is only the beginning of a packed music schedule. According to recent reports on the team's announced rollout, the full Jailer 2 album is also slated for release on September 30, with the fourth song's video scheduled for the same day. The music event is expected to be streamed on Sun NXT on October 3 and telecast on October 4.
Jailer 2Interestingly, the format of the event appears to be different from the conventional large-scale audio launches associated with major Rajinikanth films. Reports indicate that Anirudh will present the songs in a concert-style format, with the composer taking a more prominent role in the musical proceedings. Other reports also said that a traditional audio launch is not being held separately and that the September 30 event has been planned as a 'Jailer 2 Rave’ music event.
Jailer 2 reunites Rajinikanth with Nelson after the success of the 2023 original, which featured Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, Yogi Babu and Vinayakan, alongside extended appearances by Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar. The sequel is expected to bring back some of those connections while adding names including Mithun Chakraborty and Suraj Venjaramoodu. Produced by Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 is scheduled to release worldwide on October 15. Reportedly, the trailer is scheduled to arrive 10 days before the release on October 5.
