As promised, Sun Pictures dropped the second song from its upcoming film Jailer 2, starring Rajinikanth, on Friday. Titled 'One Sun One Moon,' the song has vocals by composer Anirudh himself alongside MS Krsna, and it is written by Heisenberg and Super Subu. The melodious song pays tribute to Rajinikanth's lasting legacy and stardom, with a part of the lyrics going, "Innaikkum Ennennaikkum, Oru Thalaivan Dhaan." It also offers new looks to the Superstar's character in the Jailer sequel.
Directed by Nelson, Jailer 2 brings back the 2023 film's cast members such as Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa, Shivarajkumar, Yogi Babu, Jaffer Sadiq, and Vinayakan as well. Mohanlal is also expected to reprise his Jailer role in the film, although producer Kalanithi Maran's banner is yet to confirm it. On the other hand, the new cast additions to the franchise include SJ Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vidya Balan, Vijay Sethupathi, Anna Rajan, Hakkim Shah, Bagavathi Perumal, Meghana Raj, Shamna Kasim, and Jatin Sarna. According to unconfirmed reports, Shah Rukh Khan, Mithun Chakraborty, and Hrithik Roshan are part of the cast as well.
Jailer 2 keeps almost all the technicians from the 2023 original. Besides music director Anirudh, the film's technical team includes editor R Nirmal, cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan, art director DRK Kiran, as well as costume designers Pallavi Singh and Muthul Hafeez. The new addition to the technical crew is stunt choreographer Chethan D'Souza.
Jailer 2 is slated for an October 15 release in theatres. On Friday, Sun Pictures also announced the distributors for the film. Sree Gokulam Movies holds the distribution rights in Kerala and Karnataka. Meanwhile, as announced earlier, Sithara Entertainments will distribute the film in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, whereas Malik Streams Corporation will bring it to theatres in Malaysia.
