Over the last two days, producer Kalanithi Maran's banner, Sun Pictures, have been dropping character teasers for their upcoming film Jailer 2, starring Rajinikanth and directed by Nelson. After introducing Suraj Venjaramoodu as Dileep on Friday, they dropped a teaser on Saturday for SJ Suryah's character in the upcoming film. The teaser has a voiceover from Suraj introducing SJ Suryah as Bodhi Kalpak before the character steps out of a black car clad in a white outfit, sporting sunglasses, and with some swagger.
As with Suraj Venjaramoodu, SJ Suryah is also a new cast member who has been added to the Jailer franchise. Jailer 2 marks the first collaboration between SJ Suryah and Rajinikanth as actors in a film. Besides Rajinikanth, the film's returning cast members for the second part include Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa, Shivarajkumar, Yogi Babu, Jaffer Sadiq, and Vinayakan. On the other hand, the new cast additions include Vijay Sethupathi, Anna Rajan, Hakkim Shah, Bagavathi Perumal, Meghana Raj, Shamna Kasim, and Jatin Sarna.
According to reports, the upcoming film also brings back Mohanlal's character from Jailer, although Sun Pictures is yet to confirm the same. Reportedly, actors such as Shah Rukh Khan, Mithun Chakraborty, Hrithik Roshan and Vidya Balan are also linked to the project. Audiences have been eagerly awaiting character teasers for them, especially Hrithik Roshan. It is worth noting that Hrithik starred as a young boy with Rajinikanth in 1986's Bhagwaan Dada.
Jailer 2 brings back most of the technicians from the first part, including music director Anirudh, editor R Nirmal, cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan, art director DRK Kiran, as well as costume designers Pallavi Singh and Muthul Hafeez. Stunt choreographer Chethan D'Souza is also part of its technical crew.
Jailer 2 is set to hit theatres worldwide on October 15, Thursday.
