Recently, we reported about director Shankar's son, Arjith, making his acting debut with a film titled Lover Boy, co-starring Krithi Shetty. On Saturday, the film's production banner, Passion Studios, announced that Jeevan has been added to its cast. The film is written and directed by first-time filmmaker Ashok Kumar. It also stars Sarath, Sneha, Shaji Chen, and Kanishka.

An actor who made his debut with 2002's University, Jeevan went on to star in films such as Kaakha Kaakha (2003), Naan Avan Illai (2007), and Thotta (2008), among others.

Announcing the cast addition, Passion Studios wrote, "The OG is back in Lover Boy! Team #LoverBoy welcomes the OG #Jeevan to the game baby!"

The producer also dropped a behind-the-scenes video showing Jeevan joining the film's set and greeting the team behind it. The video refers to the actor as a 'playboy,' an indirect reference to his role in Naan Avan Illai.

Jeevan has not had a release since 2024's Pambattam, where he played dual roles. Also starring Mallika Sherawat, Suman, and Rittika Sen, among others, the 2024 film marked the actor's comeback after 2015's Adhibar.

Coming back to Lover Boy, the film is produced by Sudhan Sundaram of Passion Studios, in association with Venkat K Narayana of KVN Productions. The makers are yet to reveal any specifics regarding the film's story. That said, at the time of its announcement, producer Sudhan Sundaram hinted at a "refreshing" cinematic experience for the audience.

On the technical front, the upcoming film has composer Thejas Krishna, cinematographer Vivek Vijayakumar, editor R Kalaivanan, and art director S Jayachandran.

Production on the film commenced in June third week following an auspicious pooja ceremony, graced by Shankar himself, Jana Nayagan director H Vinoth, and AR Murugadoss, among others.
