Ashok Selvan is gearing up for the September 25 release of his film Anbil Avan, co-starring Preity Mukhundhan and directed by R Kaarthikeyan. Ahead of the film's release, the actor has started active promotions for it. On Saturday, he dropped a video showing his adventurous action sequence for the upcoming film. In the video, Ashok can be seen preparing for a dive from a cliff ranging up to 70 feet into a body of water.

Sharing the clip, the actor wrote in the caption, "70 feet. No shortcuts. No compromise. My love for cinema. My commitment to the craft. My promise to my audience."

The video begins with someone talking about the danger of executing such a daring act in that location, citing recent deaths stemming falls into the waterbody.

Speaking about the stunt, director R Kaarthikeyan said, "In the writing stage, we wanted to do something very exciting," adding that he had mentioned "a free dive from a cliff" in the screenplay.

Meanwhile, we see visuals of the team doing recce for the film, and while at the location, someone talking to them about the risk of performing the stunt.

The filmmaker added, "Knowing Ashok, if something needs to be done for a film, he is always game for it."

A team of scuba divers inspected the condition of the waterbody to minimise the risk of an accident injury for Ashok Selvan. Ashok trained for the action sequence at a swimming pool, although the depth of the water in the filming location ranges up to about 150 feet. At one point, Ashok can be seen saying, "I am willing to go any lengths to do this correctly. But only I know why I am doing it. I fully believe that this is necessary for the film. The audience should buy it as something real, only then will the film work."

Meanwhile, Ashok's sister Abinaya Selvam, who produces the film with the actor, and his co-star Preity express their concerns for his safety. "He is taking a big risk and doing something daring. I am really proud of him," Preity said.

Interestingly, the makers of the film do not show the full jump itself but rather teases it and builds a sense of anticipation for it with the behind-the-scenes video.
