The makers of director R Kaarthikeyan's upcoming film Anbil Avan dropped a trailer for it on Thursday. The trailer shows Ashok Selvan's character ruing the fact that he has not been able to spend enough time with his wife (Preity Mukhundhan), and he expresses his desire to give her the kind of life he promised her. He works at a food and beverages company as an assistant manager, whereas she appears to work as a restaurant staff, having left her rich family behind for a life with him. However, soon, the Anbil Avan trailer hints at a tonal shift in the story, with Ashok Selvan and Preity Mukhundhan's characters getting entangled in a mysterious problem.
There seems to be a home invasion, and we soon see visuals of his character fighting a group of people, seemingly in self defense. "Love. Madness. War. Everything in between," the makers wrote while sharing a link to the Anbil Avan trailer. The tagline reads, "Their romance was only one side of their story."
Anbil Avan is written by Vignesh Raja, R Kaarthikeyan, and Ashok Selvan based on Vignesh's story. Besides Ashok Selvan and Preity Mukhundhan, the film stars Sabumon Abdusamad, Kadirbalu, and Maha Delhi Ganesh. It is produced by K Karunamoorthy of Ayngaran International alongside Ashok Selvan and Abinaya Selvam of Happy High Pictures. The film marks Happy High Pictures' release follow-up to Oh My Kadavule, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu and starring Ashok Selvan in the lead role.
The film's technical team includes composer Govind Vasantha, cinematographer Gowtham Rajendran, editor Selva RK, stunt choreographer Peter Hein, and art director Manikandan Srinivasan.
Ashok Selvan was most recently seen in director Mani Ratnam's Thug Life, alongside Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan TR. Anbil Avan is slated for a September 25 release in theatres. Also set to hit theatres on the same date are Pulavar, starring the late Bharathiraja in the lead role, and Karthik Subbaraj's Dorothy, featuring Keerthy Suresh, Rishikanth, and Sananth.
