Malavika Mohanan engaged in a question and answer session with fans on Instagram on Thursday, as part of promotions for her upcoming film Sardar 2. One of the questions that a fan asked her is about her three most favourite performances from female actors in Tamil cinema. In response, Malavika said, "I loved Sai Pallavi in Amaran. I thought she was so lovely, so likeable, and she was the sole of the film. I really liked Trisha in Ponniyin Selvan; she looked so beautiful and played the character so gracefully, with so much of elegance. She looked so regal."

Further, Malavika added, "I really like Nithya Menen's work; she is so talented and she speaks all languages. She jumps across industries and does such cool stuff. I really liked her in Thiruchitrambalam; she was so cute and lovely in that film."

Malavika Mohanan was last seen in a cameo in Idhayam Murali, co-starring Atharvaa and Fahadh Faasil, among others. Her last prominent role in Tamil cinema came in 2024's Thangalaan, co-starring Vikram.

In director PS Mithran's Sardar 2, she joins a star-studded ensemble cast that includes Karthi, SJ Suryah, Ashika Ranganath, Rajisha Vijayan, and Yogi Babu, among others. Malavika and SJ Suryah are new additions to the franchise's cast, as is Ashika Ranganath. Produced by Prince Pictures and Ivy Entertainment, Sardar 2 is set for a September 10 release in theatres worldwide.

Beyond the Sardar sequel, Malavika has an important role in Pocket Novel, directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja of Aaranya Kaandam and Super Deluxe fame. Pocket Novel also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Raj B Shetty, and Kishore. The makers of Pocket Novel are yet to announce a release date, but the film is expected to hit theatres by the end of this year.
