Suriya's Scene to have FDFS at 6 am? Here's what we know

After a 19-year-old died during the early morning FDFS of Varisu and Thunivu back in 2023, Tamil Nadu's first shows on the day of release have been changed to 9 am

It has been more than 3 years since the early morning first-day-first-show culture in Tamil Nadu came to an end. Back in 2023, during the release of Varisu and Thunivu, a 19-year-old fan tragically died after falling from a moving lorry while celebrating. His demise and a lot more disruption to the general public due to fandom clashes led to the government pushing FDFS shows to 9 am.

Ever since actor Vijay assumed office as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, citizens and moviegoers have been anticipating that the first show's timing on the first day would be brought back to early morning, at least to 6 am. The move was expected during the delayed release of Jana Nayagan, but it did not happen.

Now, reports are rife that the change may come as soon as next week. Two Tamil films are gearing up for release this Deepavali: Suriya's Scene and Nayanthara's Mookuthi Amman 2. Additionally, the pan-Indian film Ramayana: Part 1 starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi is also hitting theatres for the festival of lights.

As per speculations, the first-day-first-show timings for Scene may be changed to 6 am. While bookings for Jithu Madhavan's directorial will only open next week, fans anticipate the FDFS culture to be revived with the upcoming film. However, some reports also claim that the change may be brought about only for Dhanush's Om, scheduled for release on November 20. However, there is no official notice from the government on the matter.

Jithu's third directorial and Tamil debut, Scene, stars Suriya as DSP Inbaraj and Nazriya as Maya. Naslen plays a psychopath, Eshwaran, in the film, also marking his Tamil debut. Rajpriyan, Anandraj, and Lal also star in pivotal roles in the upcoming film. Om, on the other hand, features Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, and Sreeleela alongside Dhanush and is helmed by Rajkumar Periasamy.
