After two weeks of Jailer 2’s release, Hrithik Roshan on Tuesday finally acknowledged his cameo role in the film, starring Rajinikanth and directed by Nelson. The actor accepted a collaborative post from Sun Pictures regarding his character on Instagram, thus recognising his part in the film. Hrithik appears in a brief portion of the film as Roddy, an ally to Rajinikanth's Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. At the same time, Sun Pictures and composer Anirudh dropped a piece of theme music for Hrithik’s character as well.

Jailer 2 has reunited Hrithik Roshan with Rajinikanth for the first time after 1986’s Hindi film Bhagwaan Dada, where the Superstar plays the adoptive father of a young Hrithik character. It has also marked Hrithik’s debut in Tamil cinema.

Hrithik's involvement in the Jailer sequel has been an open secret for a long time now. Even before the film hit theatres, social media was abuzz with talks of the actor's brief appearance in the film. And on the day of its release, the first set of viewers who caught the film in theatres spoiled it for those who have not watched it. For all this while, Sun Pictures and Hrithik kept quiet regarding the cameo. Even Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty and Vijay Sethupathi's involvement in the film was well known to the public before Sun Pictures confirmed it with promotional materials. However, a speculation about a Shah Rukh Khan cameo turned out to be unfounded.

Sun Pictures acknowledged Hrithik's role in Jailer 2 has become the highest-grossing Tamil film of all time, reportedly grossing more than 720 crore from theatres worldwide. The film broke the previous record of 2.0, starring Rajinikanth himself and directed by Shan
