Actor Dhruv Vikram recently spoke about his journey with Bison Kaalamaadan, how comparisons between him and his father affected him at a young age, and more. In a conversation with Esquire India, Dhruv said that his decision to get into cinema was not met with acceptance at the onset, although his background ceased to matter when he went to film school. "When I went to New York, nobody cared about who my dad was. I was one amongst many people who were passionate about acting, which is what made it easier," Dhruv said.

Dhruv also recalled his experience watching his father's films in theatres. "Watching my dad in theatres when I was young, I used to feel like (his fans) were screaming for me. A kid is not going to know how to be humble or reflective or self-aware. You just feel like all of that belongs to you." Notably, Dhruv starred with Vikram in 2022's Mahaan, although he considers Bison Kaalamaadan his true debut.

Regarding Bison Kaalamaadan, Dhruv revealed that director Mari Selvaraj made him go to Tirunelveli and get ready for his role by playing kabaddi with children there. While the kids initially looked at him through the lens of his film background, his improved performance gradually helped him win over them. "Once I started getting good, then there was respect," Dhruv said about his preparation for the film with children in Tirunelveli.

Bison Kaalamaadan stars Dhruv Vikram as Kittan, a character inspired by Arjuna Award-winning kabaddi player Manathi Ganesan. It explores the character's arduous journey to the Indian National Kabaddi Team, navigating corruption in the government and oppression, among other factors. Recently, Vikram expressed pride in seeing Dhruv getting much appreciation for his performance in the sports drama.
