Mari Selvaraj's sports film Bison has opened in theatres to positive reviews from audiences and critics. Earlier today, Manathi Ganesan, the Arjuna Award-winning Kabaddi player on whose life Bison is based, appreciated the film. Speaking to Sun News, Manathi Ganesan said that the director has filmed the Kabaddi portions excellently right through the film and that Dhruv Vikram and all the other actors have done their parts exceedingly well. "I thought cinema would be very easy. Just like how I strived in sports, they have also worked very hard to make this film." The player also shared that he found the experience watching the film to be vicarious. "The happiness I felt after playing the 1994 Asian Games, director Mari has portrayed excellently in the film."
The Arjuna Award winner said that he also feels happy with the work done by the film's producer, Pa Ranjith. He recommended the film to the audience, saying, it has portrayed sports as an event that is beyond any religious or caste differentiation.
Dhruv Vikram trained for the film's Kabaddi portions with Manathi Ganesan. Speaking about the actor's efforts, he said, "He would never say that he could not do it even when he was a little tired. He would say, 'That is no big deal; as a sports player, I should be ready for everything.'" The former Kabaddi player also said that he really liked Dhruv's performance in the film.
