Exactly two weeks since its release in theatres, Suriya's Karuppu has scored another milestone. The film has earned Rs 150 crore in Tamil Nadu alone, making it inch closer towards achieving the Rs 200 crore mark in the state. This takes the film's overall collections in India to Rs 200 crore and globally to Rs 270 crore.

Just two days ago, the film officially crossed over Rs 130 crore in Tamil Nadu alone, becoming the 22nd film in history to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in the state, ending a drought in the state that had lasted since August 2025. Karuppu also became the first Suriya film to cross the landmark in the state.

Karuppu's box office success has ended a prolonged dry spell in Tamil Nadu, rewriting several records in the process. The film overtook the 13-year-old lifetime collections of Singam 2 within just four days of release, officially becoming the highest-grossing film in Suriya’s career. It then raced past the global earnings of films like Mersal, Petta, and Thunivu to enter the Rs 200 crore club in only eight days. Adding to its achievements, Karuppu has also become Suriya’s top-grossing film in Kerala.

Karuppu brings Suriya back together with Trisha for the first time after 2005's Aaru. The film also stars Indrans, Swasika, Sshivada, Natty, Supreeth Reddy, and Anagha Maya Ravi, among others. Suriya stars as the titular guardian deity, who assumes the form of a lawyer after a devotee in distress, pleads for justice. This achievement is noteworthy, especially considering the mostly mixed reviews it has received from critics. Fans have embraced the film, regardless of the criticism.
