Earlier this Tuesday, actor Vishal took to social media and expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Joseph Vijay for approving a request for five shows for films on the first week of their releases. The actor wrote, "Thank you dear CMO Tamil Nadu Vijay avargale, darling of the masses and the most prolific actor turned politician for understanding the current situation in the film industry and implementing five shows a day for all films for the first 7 days of the film s theatrical release."
The actor also expressed his eagerness for more such measures from the TVK government. "Looking forward to more GO s passed for the general public in all sectors bringing about relief and progressive growth. A big whistle from all of us," Vishal wrote.
The actor's latest comments come shortly after he courted controversy for criticising Vijay's decision to appoint Rajmohan as the Minister for Film Technology and Cinematograph Act. "Happy to see CM Joseph Vijay allocating ministries to respective elected MLAs but it's disheartening to see honorable minister Rajmohan to be in charge as minister of Film Technology and Cinematograph Act," Vishal wrote at the time.
Many actors responded to his criticism of Vijay's decision, some indirectly and others directly. Take actor Krishna, for instance. Krishna quote-tweeted Vishal's critical post and wrote, "Our CM is also new to his job, how come you don't have an opinion there." Criticising the actor for not supporting him during a difficult time in life, seemingly the phase following his drug bust, Krishna asked for Rajmohan to be given an opportunity to prove himself.
On the work front, Vishal's upcoming films include Purushan and Magudam, the latter of which he also directs following Ravi Arasu's exit from the project.
