Actors taking a train ride for commute is not an uncommon occurrence in the West. Everyone from Keanu Reeves to even Tom Cruise has used this form of transportation. However, it is rare in the Indian film industry, partly because of the fan frenzy around stars in the country. Recently, actor Vishal used a Metro ride in Kolkata as he has been in the city for the shoot of his upcoming film Purushan.
Doing the rounds on social media now is a video where Vishal can be seen hopping onto a suburban train full of passengers. While some people recognised the actor, others did not. In the video, the actor can be seen patiently taking selfies with those who knew who he is. One of them includes a woman in what seems like a police uniform.
It is worth noting that Vishal has acted mostly in Tamil cinema so far in his career and that he has not worked outside of the South Indian film industry. It is also worth noting that Kolkata is known to have only a niche audience for Tamil films. Even so, Vishal has done his bit when it comes to normalising what is expected of a film star in Indian society. Perhaps we will know more about the actor's train journeys in the City of Joy from his own podcast, where he often makes honest confessions and drops truth bombs. Recently, the actor travelled a long distance from his Magudam shooting spot in Andhra Pradesh for the Tamil Nadu elections and went back for the film's production soon afterwards.
On the work front, Vishal's upcoming films also include Magudam. Starring him in the lead role, the upcoming film is set to mark his directorial debut. Recently, the actor took over directorial responsibilities for Magudam after director Ravi Arasu exited the project.
