Dance choreographer Sandy, who had a happening year with both Telugu and Malayalam debuts in 2025, is currently working on a slew of projects. Amidst his busy schedule, he paid a visit to the sets of RJ Balaji-Suriya's Karuppu for a cameo in a scene recreated from Leo, which is now being virally spoken about.
In an interview with Rednool, Sandy has opened up about the scene, revealing details about how it came to him, the effort he had to take to bring back the look and how Suriya and Trisha reacted to his performance.
"RJ Balaji first called me for a song in Karuppu. He then pitched a scene recreating the iconic "chocolate coffee" scene from Leo. I liked it and agreed to come onboard for the cameo," he shared.
While he was more than happy to do the cameo, he had a challenge when he was called for the shoot. "But when he called me for the shoot, I had grown a beard and didn't have much hair, as I was doing a different film then. I asked him if he could make do with a different look, but he requested that I go back to the Leo look. I had to then convince my producers before shaving my beard and performing the scene," he explained.
On working with Suriya, Sandy said, "Suriya sir and Trisha ma'am enjoyed the performance. Suriya sir even pulled my leg and teased me during the shoot." For the unversed, the scene features him at a cafe, obsessively demanding "chocolate coffee" with Suriya's Karuppusamy using his powers to change his mind.
On the work front, Sandy also made a cameo appearance in TN 2026 before Karuppu. He has Kathanar: The Wild Sorcerer, Rosy, Gift, Kavin 09 and Superhero in the pipeline.
