With Karuppu completing its last leg of promotions, the cast and crew including Suriya and director RJ Balaji have been heading to major cities to interact with audiences and fans. Apart from showering praise on the lead actor and female lead Trisha, RJ Balaji reserved the best for composer Sai Abhyankkar who has been on a winning spree since last year, scoring multiple earworm numbers and signing several star-led films.

"Sai Abhyankkar has played a great role in bringing this film to you through his music. He is continuing to work for the film and that's why he couldn't come. Thank you Sai, you are a great talent," he said at the pre-release event of the film in Kerala.

RJ Balaji added, "You will be here in the industry for a long time. He will rule music for the next two decades at least. You are a major asset to the film."

Scheduled to release in theatres on May 14, Karuppu has Trisha reuniting with her Aaru (2005) co-star Suriya. The supporting cast includes Yogi Babu, acclaimed Malayalam actor Indrans, Sshivada, Lubber Pandhu fame Swasika, Natty, Supreeth Reddy, and Anagha Maya Ravi. The director is also playing a cameo role in the film.

The recently-released trailer opens with a father and daughter duo, played by Indrans and Anagha Maya Ravi, who face multiple delays in the hearing of their case, partly due to the scheming lawyer Baby Kannan (RJ Balaji in an antagonist avatar). After losing their hope, and leaving it up to the gods, their case is taken up by Saravanan (Suriya), who is teased as an incarnate of Karuppusamy. Aiding him is Preethi (Trisha), a lawyer who has faced Baby Kannan before.

Besides Sai Abhyankkar as the composer, Cinematographer GK Vishnu, editor R Kalaivanan, production designer Arun Venjaramoodu, and stunt choreographers Anbariv and Vikram Mor, round out the crew of Karuppu.
