On Tuesday, the makers of Radikaa Sarathkumar's Thaai Kizhavi announced that the film has completed a 75-day theatrical run, with its overall box office total coming to Rs 90 crore. The film, reportedly made with a budget of around Rs 10 to 20 crore, has become the second highest-grossing Tamil film of 2026 after Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi.
Helmed by Sivakumar Murugesan, Thaai Kizhavi also features Singam Puli, Arul Doss, Bala Saravanan, Munishkanth, Ilavarasu, George Maryan, Muthukumar, and Raichal Rabecca, among others, in its cast.
Produced by Sudhan Sundaram's Passion Studios and Sivakarthikeyan's SK Productions, the film is about Pavunuthaayi, a stern, no-nonsense, and foul-mouthed old woman, who her village wants dead. This includes her own family. During one such incident, her family realises her value. Thaai Kizhavi is currently available to stream on JioHotstar.
The film opened to an overwhelmingly positive response upon release. An excerpt from the CE review reads, “Thaai Kizhavi urges women worldwide not just to know how to amass it but also to wield it responsibly. And if the financial freedom associated with money isn’t exercised to its fullest and used to empower oneself and those around, money is just powerless paper.”
The film's technical team features music composer Nivas K Prasanna, cinematographer Vivek Vijayakumar, and editor San Lokesh. Sivakarthikeyan, who has produced the film under his namesake banner, is set to collaborate with director Sivakumar again for Seyon, which will be backed by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International.
