Veteran director Bharathiraja who is currently recuperating after suffering a prolonged illness, took his time out to watch Radikaa Sarathkumar's latest film Thaai Kizhavi. When the leading actor paid a visit to the noted filmmaker, he hailed her performance and said she deserves a National Award for it.

Released on the big screen in February, the comedy drama was met with critical and commercial acclaim, and the film continues its theatrical run despite its OTT debut.

Radikaa Sarathkumar shared that she was saddened by Bharathiraja's hospitalisation and expressed her happiness on director being able to watch her film after he got better. She also credited her acting skills to her mentor. "It was because of you that I am here in my career," she mentioned.

For the unversed, Radikaa made her acting debut in Bharathiraja's 1987 film Kizhakke Pogum Rail which made her widely popular.

Directed by Sivakumar Murugesan in his debut, the film sees Radikaa playing Pavunthayi, a fiercely independent and intimidating elderly moneylending woman in a village. When she falls ill mysteriously, her sons scramble to save her in order to learn about the secret gold she had stashed at her house.

Produced by Sivakarthikeyan and Sudhan Sundaram, the cast also features Singam Puli, Arul Doss, Bala Saravanan, Munishkanth, Ilavarasu, George Maryan, Muthukumar, Raichal Rabecca, among others.
