Earlier, we reported about Yogalakshmi of Tourist Family and Heart Beat fame starring in Arasan, directed by Vetri Maaran and featuring Silambarasan in the lead role. While the film's makers are yet to reveal the specifics of her role, the actor herself teased it with a social media post last night. Sharing a photograph featuring herself with Silambarasan on social media, Yogalakshmi wrote, "I'm soooooooo happyyyy that we're paired up in Arasan." Since then, her post has gone viral, with multiple reports saying that she plays the romantic interest of Silambarasan's character in the film. Even in her post from December last year, announcing her role in the film, the actor was standing next to Silambarasan.
A user commented under her social media post that her attachment with Arasan is getting possessive. In her response, the actor said, "Do not get possessive. That is why I have performed a 'suthi podal' (a way of warding off the negative attention) for you."
Another user expressed his delight for her manifestations becoming a reality and expressed his well wishes to her. "Finally it's happening," she wrote in reply to the user.
The film also stars Vijay Sethupathi and Jibin Gopinath, who recently earned much appreciation for his performance in Rahul Sadasivan's horror film Dies Irae, opposite Pranav Mohanlal. While the makers are yet to reveal plot specifics, Arasan's screenplay is a version of what Vetri Maaran first wrote for Vada Chennai when Silambarasan was in line to star in the 2018 film. Soon, Dhanush joined the 2018 movie, causing the filmmaker to change the screenplay.
Produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu of V Creations, the film reported stars Andrea Jeremiah, who teased her role reprisal as Chandra from Vada Chennai. There is also speculation about Vada Chennai actors Samuthirakani and Kishore reuniting with Vetri Maaran with the film.
