We reported about the trailer for Kaalidas 2 releasing on Friday. While director Sri Senthil earlier told CE that it would not be a direct sequel to his 2018 whodunnit, Kaalidas, it brings back Bharath's titular cop from the film and is a murder investigation. In fact, there is a pop culture reference in the Kaalidas 2 trailer that not many have spotted, except for SJ Suryah and a few others online .

Taking to his Instagram Stories on Saturday night, SJ Suryah shared a link to the upcoming film's trailer and his thoughts about it. The actor conveyed his best wishes to the film's producer K Senthil and the rest of the team, particularly actor Ajay Karthi. SJ Suryah also commended the film, calling it a "very interesting thriller that keeps you hooked" before giving a strong recommendation for it.

In addition, he appreciated the reference to his 1999 directorial film Vaalee, starring Ajith Kumar in a dual role and Simran, in the Kaalidas 2 trailer. "That Vaali touch," the filmmaker-actor wrote in his post about the Kaalidas sequel before showing his appreciation for the reference with an emoticon.

The film's trailer has a scene where Bharath's character investigates a woman's murder in a theatre. At this point, his Inspector Kaalidas asks the theatre operator to play the scene in the other movie where the audience noticed the woman's murder. The said scene is the one from Vaalee, where Ajith's lustful brother character touches the hair of Simran's character. For the uninitiated, the 1999 film's plot follows a lustful man (Ajith) who forms a fatal attraction towards his identical twin brother's wife (Simran).

Coming back to Kaalidas 2, the film is set to hit theatres on April 10, Friday.
