The All India Suriya Fans Club has officially confirmed that Suriya has no intentions of entering politics, putting an end to rumours circulating on social media on the actor's next stage in his career.
Speculations began when former fan club member and speaker R Veeramani shared a few words on the actor at a recent state and district administrators' meeting. "If time decides, if God decides, no one can stop someone from becoming a people’s leader," said Veeramani, triggering debates and discussions on social media.
On Monday, All India Suriya Fans Club said that Veeramani's statements were "personal opinions," but attempts are being made to circulate excerpts of his speech on social media with misleading interpretations. They requested everyone not to believe in them or give importance to the misinformation.
"We would also like to clarify that R Veeramani has not been part of the forum's administration for the past three years," the club said, underlining that Suriya derives happiness and satisfaction from continuing to serve the public through the Agaram Foundation and his other charitable initiatives.
The club reiterated their stance and urged people and fans only to believe official announcements.
On the work front, Suriya was recently seen in the hit film Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji. Up next, he has Vishwanath & Sons from Venky Atluri, starring Mamitha Baiju in the lead which is slated for an August 14 release in theatres worldwide. He is also working on the untitled Suriya 47, helmed by Jithu Madhavan which has Nazriya and Naslen in prominent roles. On Monday, director TJ Gnanavel had confirmed that he will be collaborating with the actor for Suriya 48. Starring Kayadu Lohar as the female lead, the film is backed by Hombale Films and has music by Sai Abhyankkar.
