Suriya and Jyotika recently caught director Chidambaram's latest film Balan: The Boy, which has been quietly making waves across the country for its engaging screenplay, storytelling and direction. In her recent post, Jyotika hailed the film and called it a "masterpiece", urging audiences to watch it on the big screen before it is "forced to be lost in this big bad world in theatres."
In her Instagram post, the System actor said, "Balan: The Boy - a supremely crafted film by Chidambaram and an intriguing and constantly surprising screenplay by Jeethu Madhavan which blends empathy, mystery, innocence and criminal instinct so smoothly, making it a masterpiece to watch."
She further appreciated the lead characters Adhisheshan, who plays the titular boy and Farzana Palathingal who portrays his mother. "Such delightful performances by Farzana who is a revelation on screen showcasing a strong embodiment of womanhood . Adisheshan and sinan whose innocence and depth in the eyes pierce straight into the viewers heart," she said, also adding a note of praise for Dolly June and Tovino Thomas. "What a freshly crafted character and bold performance .
Tovino Thomas sheds every bit of his stardom to give one of his best works," she added.
She further hailed Sushin Shyam's music and camera work by Shyju Khalid and urged audiences to catch it in theatres soon. "Don’t miss this tale of motherhood and innocence which is forced to be lost in this big bad world in theatres! Such a sharp, and intelligent piece of filmmaking. Yet another gem from the Malayalam film industry which triumphs! Truly honoured to meet the team today," she said.
The film tells the story of a boy (Adhisheshan) and his mother (Farzana Palathingal), who confront their past secrets as they go on a quest for truth and redemption. It also has actors Muhammed Zinaan, Jean Paul Lal, Beena Antony, Premalu fame filmmaker Girish AD, and so on. Balan marks the third film in Chidambaram's career. He made his directorial debut with 2021's Jan E Man and followed it up Manjummel Boys, which went on to become a massive hit at the box office. Balan is on course to mark a hat-trick of success for Chidambaram.
For the unversed, Balan has been scripted by Jithu Madhavan, the director of Suriya's upcoming untitled Suriya 47 which also stars Nazriya and Naslen in lead roles.
