As Tamil Nadu celebrates the birthday of its chief minister and former actor Vijay on Monday, another member of his Jana Nayagan team has reason to celebrate too. His co-star Mamitha Baiju shares her birthday with him, born exactly 27 years after Vijay.
Mamitha Baiju, who made her Tamil debut with Rebel, acted alongside Vijay in her third Tamil project, Jana Nayagan, as his foster daughter. Previously, recollecting her first meeting with the actor-politician during the film's launch ceremony, she told JFW, "I was very nervous while clicking a photo with him. But he made sure to calm my nerves."
Later on, during the Jana Nayagan audio launch that took place in December, Vijay spoke highly of Mamitha Baiju. He said, "To put it short and sweet, Mamitha is not only the Dude of today's youth but will also become a household name as a daughter after this film. She's my good friend."
Unfortunately, the duo's Jana Nayagan is yet to see the light of day. The H Vinoth directorial was initially postponed from its January 9 release date due to censorship issues. However, the film was leaked on piracy sites a few months ago, derailing the release process even further. While fans expected the film to be released on his birthday, the fate of the film is still in limbo.
On the work front, Mamitha Baiju was last seen in Vignesh Raja's Kara alongside Dhanush. Coming up next in Tamil, apart from Jana Nayagan, she has Irandu Vaanam with Vishnuu Vishal and Vishwanath & Sons with Suriya. The latter is scheduled for a 14 August release. In Malayalam, she is set to be seen with Nivin Pauly in Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, which is also scheduled for release in August around the Onam festival.
