Recently, we reported that Keerthiswaran is speculated to join hands with Silambarasan for his sophomore directorial. Now, the Dude director has given a hint at the film at a recent event. At the same event, he also teased Dude 2 and gave an update on where the film stands.
For the unversed, recent reports suggested that Silambarasan, who is currently filming for Vetri Maaran's Arasan, is set to collaborate with Keerthiswaran for his next. The reports also detailed that shooting for his film with Ashwath Marimuthu, tentatively titled STR 51, may be pushed.
Speaking at a Behindwoods event, Keerthiswaran said, "I am currently working on a story. It has commercial elements, emotions, and a lot more. The script requires a star, and I have such a star in mind. Very soon, we will make an announcement."
While the director did not confirm the project, speculations are rife that three major production houses have shown interest in backing it. Initially, the film was expected to be produced by Mythri Movie Makers. However, discussions are now underway with Sithara Entertainments and AGS Entertainment to take over the production. Reportedly, pre-production is underway for the project, with the film set to go on floors in August.
On Dude 2, he added, "I have pitched an idea to Pradeep Ranganathan for Dude 2, which has the spirit of Dude. If it works out, it will be a sequel or a continuation of the film."
Dude was Pradeep's fourth film as the lead. The film tells the story of cousins Agan (Pradeep) and Kural (Mamitha Baiju), who start a new event-planning venture. When they get close together for the business venture, one of them falls in love with the other and proposes marriage to the latter, making their relationship complicated. It marked a third consecutive 100-crore-grosser for Pradeep after Love Today and Dragon.
