After a blockbuster opening for Vijay's farewell film Jana Nayagan, the second day numbers have significantly come down, earning a net of Rs 21.15 crore across 12,190 shows. This is a 50.5 per cent drop from yesterday's net collection of Rs 42.70 crore. However, crowds are continuing to throng theatres in large numbers to catch the actor-turned-Chief Minister's farewell film on the big screen the actioner has officially crossed the Rs 100 crore mark globally.

Overseas, the H Vinoth-directorial has collected Rs 10 crore on its second day, taking its total worldwide gross to Rs 37.50 crore so far. This pushes the worldwide gross collection to Rs 112.50 crore. However, since its release on Thursday, the film has been receiving mixed reviews and word-of-mouth ratings, which might have affected the collections.

An excerpt from our CE review of the Jana Nayagan reads, "While the core idea of Tamil Nadu CM Joseph Vijay’s Jana Nayagan might seem similar, the agenda is more political, the electoral kind. Vijay’s cinematic swansong tries to balance both agendas, but warning bells for the future stand no chance against a fiery political speech that is delivered by a charming Pied Piper."

The film boasts a star-studded ensemble featuring Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, and Bobby Deol, alongside Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani. The film is backed by Venkat K Narayana of KVN Productions, in its foray into Tamil cinema.

A partial remake of 2023 National Award-winning Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari, headlined by Nandamuri Balakrishna, it follows a former police officer who raises the daughter of a deceased friend and encourages her to overcome childhood trauma and pursue a career in the Indian Army. Jana Nayagan is first of his films to be released after he assumed office as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
