Just days after the makers of Dhanush's 55th film, Om: Chapter 1—Udhiram, announced that Naseeruddin Shah has joined the film's cast, a new update regarding the film has arrived. The film, which marks the third directorial of Rajkumar Periasamy, is scheduled to open in theatres on October 16.

Apart from Dhanush and Naseeruddin Shah, Om also stars Mammootty, Sreeleela, Sai Pallavi and Indrans, among others. The film marks Naseeruddin's return to Tamil cinema 26 years after his Tamil debut in Hey Ram.

On Saturday, Dhanush's manager Sreyas took to his official Instagram handle to share a story featuring the Malaysian Twin Towers. He then captioned the photo "#Om final schedule". His story also featured the introductory song of the film, which was shared along with the title glimpse. The length of the schedule is currently kept undisclosed. Reportedly, Mammootty is set to be present for five days of the shooting schedule, while Dhanush and Naseeruddin Shah will be there for the entirety.

Om brings Rajkumar Periasamy back together with Sai Pallavi after their collaboration on Amaran (2024), where the actor plays Major Mukund's wife, Indhu Rebecca Varghese. On the other hand, it marks Mammootty's return to Tamil cinema after 2018's Peranbu, as well as reuniting Dhanush with Sai Pallavi after Maari 2 (2018).

The film is produced by Dhanush himself under the Wunderbar Films banner and Shraddha Agrawal of R Take Studios. On the technical front, it has composer Sai Abhyankkar, cinematographer Ezhil Arasu, editor Kalaivanan, choreographer Sandy, and stunt director Yannick Ben. Details about the film's plot are kept under wraps.

Upon its October 16 release, the film is scheduled to clash with Rajinikanth's Jailer 2, slated for release on October 15. Both films are planned for release during the Navaratri pooja holidays.
