It is well known that Dhanush's 55th film, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, was recently titled Om. The film went on floors around the same time as the title announcement and is progressing at a brisk pace, with its release already locked for later this year. Amid the ongoing shoot, a few stills from Om, featuring Dhanush and Sreeleela have reportedly been leaked online by unknown individuals and are now being widely circulated across social media platforms.
Dhanush is the latest actor to face the issue of leaked stills from a film set. Earlier, high budget projects such as Rajinikanth's Coolie and Jana Nayagan also witnessed pictures and videos from their shoots being leaked online, much to the concern of their makers. While the team is yet to share any clarification on the issue, certain members on social media claim the photos are fake.
Apart from Dhanush and Sreeleela, Om also stars Sai Pallavi and Mammootty in important roles. While Sai Pallavi is uniting with Dhanush for the second time after Maari 2 (2018) and the director after their hit collaboration in Amaran, Mammootty is making his comeback to Tamil cinema seven years after director Ram's critically-acclaimed drama Peranbu (2019). Indrans, who recently witnessed a hit outing with Karuppu, is also part of the team.
Details of the plot of Om remain under wraps for now. But the title promo revealed a tense encounter in a rain-drenched jungle, where a group of woodcutters and labourers are threatened at gunpoint by police personnel. Dhanush's character steps in to protect them like a saviour., triggering an intense action sequence.
The film is produced by Dhanush himself under the Wunderbar Films banner and Shraddha Agrawal of R Take Studios. Besides Sai Abhyankkar, other members of the technical team include cinematographer Ezhil Arasu, editor Kalaivanan, choreographer Sandy, and stunt director Yannick Ben.
Om hits theatres on October 16 this year.
