Tamil actor Arya has been named in a cheating case registered by the Jubilee Hills police in Hyderabad following allegations of non-payment of dues for shooting equipment hired for the Malayalam film Ananthan Kaadu.

According to the complaint, representatives of Hyderabad-based Taher Cine Techniques alleged that high-end digital cameras and lighting equipment were rented to the film's production after an agreement was signed in February 2025. The company claimed it transported the equipment from Hyderabad to filming locations in Kerala at its own expense.

After production wrapped, the total rental bill reportedly stood at Rs 2.12 crore. However, the complainants alleged that more than Rs 1.80 crore remains unpaid despite repeated requests for payment.

The complaint, filed by the company's accountant Javed Ali, states that the production team had agreed to clear all outstanding dues before the film's release and obtain a no-dues certificate from the equipment supplier. It further alleges that repeated phone calls and WhatsApp messages seeking payment went unanswered.

The complainants have also accused Arya, producer Vinod Sadaru and Arya's personal assistant Kishore of allegedly threatening the company's manager when he followed up on the pending amount. They further claimed that interim orders had been obtained from a court in Kerala without disclosing all relevant facts surrounding the dispute.

Based on the complaint, the Jubilee Hills police have registered a case against Arya, Vinod Sadaru and Kishore under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). An investigation into the matter is currently underway. Neither Arya nor the film's producers have publicly responded to the allegations at the time of writing.

On the work front, Arya will next be seen in Vettuvam, helmed by Pa Ranjith. A release date for the film, also headlined by VR Dinesh, is awaited. He is set to move on to the sets of Pa Ranjith's Sarpatta Parambarai Round 2 after Vettuvam.
