Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is currently busy with his upcoming film Spirit, which stars Prabhas as the lead actor. Meanwhile, his production banner Bhadrakali Pictures is backing a small film titled Romanchakam, starring Sumanth Prabhas and Ananthika Sanilkumar. Venu Gopal Reddy is directing the film, while Sandeep’s brother Pranay Reddy is producing it. The film is hitting the screens on September 3, and the makers recently unveiled its trailer.
Speaking at the trailer launch event, Sandeep Reddy Vanga said that he watched Romanchakam and liked it. “The hero’s characterisation is very innocent and it is not easy to perform and impress the audiences with such a character. When you watch the hero, heroine and their friends on the screen, you feel that you are watching those people like your neighbours,” said Sandeep about the film.
He revealed that he heard the story and watched the first cut but never visited the sets. “I didn’t go to the sets, not even for a single day. I don’t want to disturb them. I have problems with micromanagement, so I knew I might end up disturbing them. That’s why I decided not to go to the sets while they were shooting the film,” said Sandeep Reddy.
He said he laughed a lot while listening to the story and even more after watching the film. “This is a hilarious movie and, for the first time, a film from our Bhadrakali Pictures banner has received a clean U certificate from the censor board. I appeal to all the family audiences to come and watch the film,” he said.
“Till now, all our films received an A certificate, and my upcoming film Spirit with Prabhas will also get an A certificate. So, watch Romanchakam with your families,” he added.
Sandeep also appreciated the team for the trailer. “It is very difficult to cut the trailer for this film, so I appreciate them for doing it well. It is not easy to cut a trailer for this film because the entertainment continues in a flow and never stops. But the team has done a good job with a good trailer,” he said.
He further added that the film does not depend much on cinematic advantages. “I can’t write a script like this because the comedy has no agenda other than making people laugh. These days, it is difficult to write a script without taking cinematic advantages, but this film makes very little use of such advantages. I really liked that aspect,” he said.
When asked about Spirit, Sandeep Reddy Vanga made it clear that there is no change in the release plans. “Yes, we are coming on March 5, 2027, and there is no doubt about it. We have completed a 40-day schedule, and another 65 days of shooting is left. We are able to complete it on time,” said Sandeep.
Spirit’s release is relatively close to another highly anticipated film, Varanasi, which is scheduled to arrive on April 7, 2027. When asked whether the gap would be sufficient commercially, Sandeep said, “Yes, it is okay. There is nearly a 37-day gap, and it is good enough for my Spirit.”
