Suriya-RJ Balaji's Karuppu continues its successful box office run even after its release on OTT. The action entertainer, released on May 15, has already minted Rs 175 crores+ in Tamil Nadu and Rs 300 crores+ worldwide. The film made its way to OTT platform Prime Video a few weeks ago and has since then been the topic of discussion among film enthusiasts and fans of the actor, who shared their appreciation and comments for the film.

Karuppu has now marked a major milestone in its theatrical run by completing 50 days at the box office. The film's makers Dream Warrior Pictures shared the happy news on their social media handles and expressed their gratitude to fans and audiences for making the film a grand success. "This milestone belongs to each and every one of you. Thank you to all our audiences and Anbaana Fans for your unwavering love and support," they said. Earlier, they had also shared a thank you note for their financiers, distributors, cast, crew and everyone who contributed to the film.

As reported earlier, Karuppu's box office success has ended a prolonged dry spell in Tamil Nadu, rewriting several records in the process. The film overtook the 13-year-old lifetime collections of Singam 2 within just four days of release, officially becoming the highest-grossing film in Suriya’s career. It then raced past the global earnings of films like MersalPetta, and Thunivu to enter the Rs 200 crore club in only eight days. It is currently the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2026.

In Karuppu, Suriya portrays the titular guardian deity who descends to Earth to help a distressed family when they call out for his help. However, he soon realises the rigged nature of the legal system which has been guarded by corrupt individuals for decades, and decides to reform them.

The cast of the film also includes TrishaIndrans, Swasika, Sshivada, Anagha Maya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy, Natty Natraj, among others. The filmmaker portrays the antagonist, Baby Kannan.

Recently, Suriya had gifted Mahindra BE 6 cars to composer Sai Abhyankkar, editor Kalaivanan, and cinematographer GK Vishnu.
