Popular actors are not new to facing internet trolls and attacks. Sivakarthikeyan has now opened up about facing similar issues during the audio launch of his much-anticipated film Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara.

In an emotional speech, Sivakarthikeyan recalled how he and his family were targeted online with verbal abuses and personal attacks. "I have faced paid cyber attacks on social media. They usually have an agenda and want to spread something negative. But this time, they went a little extra. They have gone to the extent of dragging my family in, too," he shared. Aarthi, his wife, along with his mother Raji, who were seated in the audience section looked emotional as he was narrating the disheartening experience.

"My mother asked me after seeing this, who do you have? But today I feel like telling my mother, I have lakhs of people with me," the actor said, pointing to his fans, which invited thunderous applause from the crowd.

Parasakthi is slated for release worldwide on January 10, a day after Vijay's Jana Nayagan hits theatres.

The film's trailer, which was released on Sunday, gave a glimpse of the anti-Hindi agitations in Tamil Nadu that happened in 1965. Sivakarthikeyan stars alongside Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa, and Sreeleela for the first time, with the latter making her Tamil debut and marks the first time Ravi Mohan plays an antagonist. Atharvaa will also be seen playing a key role.
