Music composer Anirudh Ravichander recently attended News 18 Tamil Nadu's Network Town Hall Event, where he spoke about the use of AI in music composition.
The Jailer 2 composer said, "AI has become truly remarkable. What matters most is how you choose to use it. For Vettaiyan, we used AI to recreate Malaysia Vasudevan sir’s voice. In just a year, the technology has advanced tremendously. Today, I can sing a line and make a hundred different female voices render it in varying pitches. This is only the beginning. It may still be early days, but AI is undoubtedly the future, and everyone will eventually embrace it.”
Previously, during the release of Rajinikanth-Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie, Anirudh opened up about using ChatGPT to complete composing one of his songs. He said, "When I had a creative block, I just opened ChatGPT and fed it the information about my song. I asked the AI, 'This is the song. I am stuck while trying to compose the last two lines. What do I do, man?' I swear, I am being honest." With a laugh, he further added candidly, "I also subscribed to the premium version of the AI so that it doesn't stop giving me the best results midway. With the prompt, the AI gave me ten lines. From there I saw one line, an idea emerged, and I cracked the rest of the song. All creators face a block, but today, it is easier to get over such a block. I feel it is better to let it be rather than overthink about being stuck."
Anirudh's latest film album is Sivakarthikeyan's Madharaasi. In his pipeline, he has a number of projects, with Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth's reunion helmed by Nelson, KHxRK, being the most anticipated. Vijay's swansong Jana Nayagan, Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 and Thalaivar 173, Shah Rukh Khan's King, and Allu Arjun's AA23 are some of the big projects in his kitty.
