Director H Vinoth recently took an indirect dig at the controversy over the censorship of his film Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay in his final role before his foray into politics. Vinoth was speaking about actor M Sasikumar and Chaithra Achar's latest film My Lord, directed by Raju Murugan.
Speaking to Cinema Vikatan, Vinoth said that My Lord explores the kind of politics that date back thousands of years. He then drew a parallel between the positive reception for My Lord and the controversy over the delay in the censorship clearance for his upcoming film with Vijay.
Referring to Sasikumar's character in My Lord, Vinoth said that many journalists come to save Muthuchirpi when he gets beaten. "However, if I speak politics, nobody will come to save me," the filmmaker said, alluding to a lack of media support for him and his film with Vijay.
While he did not specifically mention the name of his film with Vijay or directly allude to the censorship row, his comments have been interpreted to be linked to the upcoming movie.
The other day, the makers of Jana Nayagan, KVN Productions reportedly withdrew the case it filed against the Censor Board. As a result, according to reports, the board's revising committee will decide on the censorship certification for the film.
After the initial delay in the issuance of the certificate, which made KVN Productions postpone the film's release from its scheduled Pongal date, there has been much speculation about whether it is a politically motivated move.
Vinoth's comments found the favour of numerous Vijay admirers, who also blamed the media and the board for their lack of support for its director.
