Hopes and anticipation are up in the air ever since the announcement for Kamal Haasan-Rajinikanth's upcoming project (KH x RK) was unveiled recently. While details regarding the yet-to-be-project, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, remains unclear, Anirudh has now spilled the beans on working for this "special film" in his career.
Speaking to News 18, the composer-singer said that he has tried to recreate the vintage atmosphere for the film through his music to highlight their stardom and long-lasting careers. "We have done a lot of mass-style music for both of them, be it in Vikram or Jailer. When we were brainstorming on what unique aspect we can bring to this film, we zeroed on the idea of bringing back the '70s and '80s era in the music. It is all about finding the right balance," he said.
Sharing his emotions on working for the much-awaited film, Anirudh called it "surreal" to be sitting in the same room with the two stars. "Both Nelson and I were feeling surreal. The fact that they both were in the same shooting spot...it is happening after 47 years. In our generation we have not seen that happen. Just to witness them discussing dialogues, speaking to each other felt surreal. I told both of them that this is an iconic moment," he added.
He called it a "special film" in his career and said he was happy for the Beast director. "I believe this would turn out to be a fun-filled entertainer in theatres. We will give our best for it. I was not nervous when I heard the idea, but felt excited as it will be a double bonanza for fans. Nelson's script has also come out well, so we will be bringing the film next year and we are sure it would be a hit at the box office," he said.
The promo of KH x RK which was unveiled a few days ago, also hints at a film with plenty of vintage elements, which are apparent in Rajinikanth and Kamal's costumes, the Mercedes-Benz car they travel in, and the music for the glimpse video. The extended cast details are currently kept under wraps.
Inban Udhayanidhi of Red Giant Movies is producing the film, with the banner's own Arjun Durai and M Shenbaga Moorthy serving as co-producers. Speaking about the film, Kamal wrote on X, "A Special reunion with my friend Rajinikanth. Every great journey deserves another chapter! My best to Nelson Dilpkumar and Anirudh - and to Red Giant Movies for powering this collaboration."
The makers also announced that production on the film is set to commence soon and revealed the additional technical crew members. In addition to Anirudh, the film's technical team includes cinematographer Rajiv Menon, editor R Nirmal, art director DRK Kiran, and costume designer Pallavi Singh.
Meanwhile, Kamal is also producing a film starring Rajinikanth and directed by Don fame Cibi Chakravarthy.
