The rivalry between Ajith Kumar and Vijay’s fans is the biggest in Tamil cinema, comparable to the legendary MG Ramachandran and Sivaji Ganesan days or peak Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan eras. While both actors have often stated that they are on good terms, their fanbases engage in intense ‘wars’ over many factors, including who among the two have the most box office hits and who is better between them, etc. Even as the fan wars continue, Ajith's spouse Shalini said that he and Vijay share “a good relationship” and that they are “very happy for each other's success”. She referred to the relationship between them as being “beautiful”. Shalini, who retired from acting a long time ago, was speaking at the recent JFW Movie Awards function.

Her comments come at a time when Vijay and Ajith Kumar have not had a release in a while. Vijay's last film, Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, is still awaiting its release due to a delay in its censorship clearance.

The issues between KVN Productions, the film's producer, and the Censor Board are set to be over as the banner has withdrawn its complaint against the board, thus allowing its revising committee to take over the censorship process. An announcement regarding the film's release date is expected to come soon. 

On the other hand, Ajith is busy with his motorsports commitments. He continues to have celebrity visitors coming over for his racing events. At the same time, director AL Vijay is making a documentary out of his racing endeavours. On the film front, the actor is expected to come back soon for a film with Adhik Ravichandran, his Good Bad Ugly director. Anyhow, with Vijay set to bid farewell to acting, it is going to be interesting times ahead for the fans.
