Sarathkumar's long-delayed film Aazhi, written and directed by Madhav Ramadasan, is finally set to hit theatres on February 27, Friday. Ahead of the film's release, Madhav, Sarathkumar, and Indrajith Jagajith sat with CE for a conversation.
Indrajith, who stars in a key role in the film, drew a comparison between his Aazhi co-star Sarathkumar and Mammootty. Indrajith expressed his gratitude to the film's makers for giving him the opportunity to make his Tamil debut opposite Sarathkumar. "I am very grateful to make my debut with Sarathkumar sir not because he is only a legendary actor, but then, I could learn a lot from him," the actor said.
He also shared that while he has worked with many actors in Malayalam, Sarathkumar has qualities that he found to be similar to Mammootty. According to him, both actors have similar dedication to their craft and maintain comparable discipline and punctuality on set.
"I got to see Mammookka sir in person on the set of Patriot. I have found a lot of similarities between him and Sarathkumar sir. It is crazy to think about, because they already have legendary status in the industry yet they are giving this much dedication to their craft. That is their passion also," Indrajith said.
It is worth noting that Sarathkumar and Mammootty starred together in 2009's Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja, director Hariharan's epic film based on MT Vasudevan Nair's screenplay.
Coming back to Indrajith Jagajith, the actor also noted that although he has worked in many Malayalam films, he is yet to have a big breakthrough in Malayalam. Therefore, he considers it a massive opportunity to get into Tamil cinema with a role alongside Sarathkumar.
Aazhi brings Indrajith back together with Madhav Ramadasan after his 2019 film Ilayaraja, which marked his acting debut.
