Regena Cassandrra, last seen in Kesari Chapter 2, recently opened up about the discrimination and ill-treatment she faces as a South Indian in Bollywood. The actor, who has worked on films like Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga and series like Rocket Boys, spoke to The Hindustan Times about being treated derogatorily on a Bollywood set.

Regena first spoke about how, despite being a South Indian, she was always well-versed in Hindi. "Compared to most South Indians, my Hindi is way better. I can read, write, and speak Hindi, and all the work I have done to date in the language is in my own voice. It's my own Hindi, and I've tried to make sure that, you know, I live up to the role that I've been given."

On the mistreatment, she added, "A lot of people treated me in a derogatory manner, not just with words, but with actions. It's sort of a derogatory outlook towards me. And, I mean, anyone would be able to tell that I was being put down in a certain way. I did feel it. So I did have some inhibitions in the North. But, having said that, it's not always the case, right?"

On the work front, Regena, who recently had a special appearance in the JioHotstar series Nadu Center, is awaiting the release of Mookuthi Amman 2, headlined by Nayanthara in Tamil. The Sundar C directorial is currently in post-production. She was recently roped in to headline a web series for the first time in Tamil with a gritty thriller for Prime Video. The yet-to-be-titled project is described as a dark, character-driven crime drama, aligned with the themes of acclaimed international series Mare of Easttown, starring Kate Winslet. The actor also has The Wives, Flashback and Section 108 in various stages of production.
