Actor Regena Cassandrra will be headlining a web series for the first time in Tamil with a gritty thriller for OTT giant Prime Video. The yet-to-be-titled project is described as a dark, character-driven crime drama, alligned with the themes of acclaimed international series Mare of Easttown, starring Kate Winslet.
Directed by Nithin Lukose, a Kerala-based filmmaker and sound designer, the series is set to place strong emphasis on psychological depth, investigative tension, and emotionally layered storytelling. The series has reportedly begun filming.
Director Nithin made his feature debut with Paka (The River of Blood), presented by Anurag Kashyap, which was widely acclaimed at the international festival circuit.
Further details on the title, extended cast, plot and a tentative release date are yet to be announced by the makers.
Regena had three releases last year - Ajith Kumar's Vidaamuyarchi, Sunny Deol's Jaat and Akshay Kumar's Kesari Chapter 2. Up next, she is awaiting the release of Sundar C's Mookuthi Amman 2, starring Nayanthara, Urvashi, Duniya Vijay, Yogi Babu and Abhinaya in lead roles.
