Yesterday, we reported that the makers of Thaai Kizhavi, Sivakarthikeyan's production banner, moved the film's release back by a week, slating it for February 27 instead. At the time, the producer did not specify the reason for the decision. However, earlier today, they put out a statement, detailing why it has decided to move the film's release.

In the statement, the makers say, "With the prevailing situation and the ambiguity surrounding the films slated for release on the 20th, we have decided to reschedule the release of our film to 27th February." Interestingly, there are no other big releases scheduled for February 20, Friday. The makers seem to be referring to reports about KVN Productions' plan to schedule Vijay's final film Jana Nayagan for a February 20 release in theatres.

It is worth noting that, earlier, Vijay fans came down hard on Sivakarthikeyan after the change in the release of his film Parasakthi, thus setting it up for a direct box office clash with Jana Nayagan, although the Vijay-H Vinoth film faced further delays due to censorship hassles.

According to the statement, the makers found it difficult to decide on the Thaai Kizhavi release postponement. "We had firmly committed to releasing the film within February to honour our agreements with our digital and satellite partners. To ensure we stand by that commitment and deliver as promised, we are making this difficult call and moving ahead with a one-week postponement," the statement further read.

As reported earlier, the film marks the directorial debut of Sivakumar Murugesan. In addition to Sivakarthikeyan, Passion Studios' Sudhan Sundaram also serves as a producer on the film. Besides Radikaa, the cast includes Singam Puli, Munishkanth, Bala Saravanan, Arul Doss, Muthukumar, Ilavarasu, Raichal Rabecca, and George Maryan, among others.
