Ever since the release of DC, Lokesh Kanagaraj's acting debut, the film has been receiving good reviews, particularly highlighting the background score by Anirudh Ravichander. For Anirudh, this marks his fifth collaboration with Lokesh, after Master, Vikram, Leo and Coolie.
While the original motion picture soundtrack was fully released before the film hit theatres, one track that went viral was 'Raga of Revenge', which featured in the film's trailer. Now, Anirudh has opened up about composing the track in an interview with Mashable.
On reuniting with Lokesh, he said, "Lokesh and I go back many years now, and our combination is a special one for audiences here in the South. So, when he was becoming a hero, my first reaction was, ‘Why do you want to do it?’ [laughs] But I think now everything has come together so well, especially with director Arun."
Further, Anirudh revealed how his collaborations with Lokesh have always been. "With Lokesh, it’s always been this way—he just lets me do my thing. I hear the story from him; he tells me the script, and whenever he shoots something, he’ll show me some stuff. Apart from that, we don’t discuss much when it comes to music. He just gives me a free slate. So, this was basically made not as a track…”
Also starring Wamiqa Gabbi and Sanjana Krishnamoorthy in lead roles, DC is helmed by Arun Matheswaran. A bloody and gory take on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel Devdas, the film also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, Krish Dayal, Avinash Raghudevan, and Thalaivasal Vijay, among others.
