Chaithra Achar shares her impression of Dhanush starrer Kara's story

Actor Chaithra Achar was in line to star in Kara before its makers decided to replace her with Mamitha Baiju for a particular reason

Recently, we reported about Chaithra Achar being in talks to star in director Vignesh Raja's Kara as the female lead, alongside Dhanush. The actor could not take on the role, despite completing a look test for it, because of its similarity with her character in My Lord, her recent Tamil release. Also starring Sasikumar, My Lord was slated for a theatrical release ahead of Kara, so the Dhanush film's makers believed that the resemblance was likely to have an impact on how fresh her character could be in it. Consequently, they went with Mamitha Baiju in place of the actor, best known for her performance in the Sapta Sagaradaache Ello franchise.

It is interesting that Vignesh first felt that Mamitha Baiju was likely to turn down the offer to star in Kara, as the role goes against her reputation of light-hearted and bubbly characters in films, such as Premalu, to name one. However, Mamitha signed on to the project, thus taking the team behind it by surprise.

Kara hit theatres earlier this Thursday. Meanwhile, Chaithra Achar conveyed her best wishes to Vignesh Raja and the rest of the team behind the film. She also wrote, "Having heard this script I can easily say it is one banger of a story," followed by a love emoticon. In the meantime, Vignesh Raja shared her thoughts about the film on his Stories space.

Kara marks Vignesh Raja's second film as a director. His directorial debut, Por Thozhil, starring Sarath Kumar and Ashok Selvan, received critical acclaim and much audience appreciation upon its June 2023 release.

The Dhanush starrer has opened to mostly positive reviews from audiences and critics. Produced by Vels Film International of Ishari K Ganesh, with his daughter Kushmita Ganesh serving as a co-producer, the film also stars Suraj Venjaramoodu, KS Ravikumar, Jayaram, and Karunas.
